Last mod on EDV8 is to change ATX TCM ( current # 91DA 7E453BA)-
I cannot find an EBGT (EETVE 7E453B now obsolete) but can get a hold of one from an ELGT (ELTVE 7E453B).
Can anyone tell me the differences and if interchangeable.
Ford cant or wont tell me if I can use the ELGT TCM.

Any thoughts.

Richie

Nope, unless you want to change harnesses.. Even EF/EL aren't totally interchangeable.

Interesting point.

Now, as far as I know - the TCM and associated wiring changed very little between EB V8 and EL V8. You'd really want to check this though.

As for differences, I think EL GT has some sort of adaptive shift rubbish? Aside from this, i dont see what differences are possible? My EF will redline the engine in each gear if economy mode is off, and with a shift kit the line pressure can be modified.... not sure what to expect from an EL GT TCM? I mean... what more can it do besides adaptive shift?

The adaptive shift has it's power and economy mode - as well as a "learning" position which remembers how you drive it and reacts accordingly. My FBT is permanantly in economy since some bastard stole my Tickford folder with all the car information as well as the information on how to change modes.

The ELGT & FBT have no power/economy switch - switching is done through ignition key and shifter.

Shane that's brutal mate. I wouldnt wish permanent economy against my worst enemy...

From what i've read...

- Stop car, handbrake on, engine off
- Depress brake pedal and keep it depressed during the process....
- Move gear selector to 1st (max performance) 2nd (economy) 3rd (adaptive)
- Turn key to accessories and wait for airbag light to go off...
- Move gear selector to Reverse (With any luck the econ light should go off...)

Then to Park and then start...
