hi does any 1 know where i might b able to get one of these crate motors... preferably in S.A or close to.

xr9ute reccommended it instead of a rebuild. and i sorta like his thinking. so i ditched the last idea anddecided to go with the crate motor.

Hummm. Perhaps try a Magazine called “Parts Peddlerâ€￾ or “Just Carsâ€￾ you may find a 302EFI crate motor in there.

I don’t think you would find a 200KW Ford EFI crate motor very easy, and I sure as hell wouldn’t by one off ford, as you would pay throe the nose for it, that’s if they still even have any.

If you are serous about your slogan “help me build the fastest meanest ef XR8 around...â€￾

I would be starting from the ground with the 5.0 litre Block and build it up.

Cheers.

Buy a 427 crate motor ;), that's a good way to get started on a quick xr8 :p.

YTmont has the right idea.....
This Ford racing 392 will do the job for ya too;
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... Field=9278
Buy this engine and sell off the intake, distributor and timing cover.
Buy a TFS-R with the Box upper, a 90mm T-body, some 42lb injectors and 90mm MAF. Stick the front dress off your 5.0 on it and start kickin a**!
Other choices are World 427 # WP102046, WP102061 or the 460ci version # WP102075 http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/desc ... o=WP102075
If you want to stay with an 8.2" deck engine one of these are good choices and there is no piddly stock 5.0L block to worry about cracking;
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... Field=7209
http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/pa ... Field=6531
or world # WP102040 which is a 375ci 8.2" deck engine.
The World engines are available as short blocks also. This would be a better way to go as there are better head choices available than the World ones. Go here http://www.rocketindustries.com.au/sear ... ort+blocks

Cheers,
Pete.

Depends what engine you use Jagga,

Any of the 351 based 9.5" or 9.2" deck engines will need custom or modified X-series Falcon headers, 351 type TFI distributor,351 type EFI intake,351 type sump and possibly a small diameter starter if you switch to a RH starter position.
Things you can use from your 5.0L are; Complete front dress including timing cover, engine mounts, gearbox/bellhousing(if you want to see it grenade:), fuel rails with the flexible lines cut off and replaced with longer ones although you'll probably have to cut off the existing fuel line connections as these are the single biggest restriction on stock rails, Engine harness.
Check out the post about my 351w into XE for some of the info.

Cheers,
Pete.
