Hey just looking for some information on the 6 to 8 conversion. What needs to be changed over during it all and i also need to know whether wagons came out as 8s or whether engineering is required.

Cheers, Justin

Yes there were V8 AU Wagons. Only a few though and I believe they were all Fairmonts.

I'll be doing the reverse to my DF LTD. From what I gather, apart from the obvious, the K-frame may need to be switched. Don't know for sure, but I assume the mounts will be very different. If you're doing that also, then it might be easier switching over the whole suspension and steering setup. That way you know all the power steering and hoses and the like will all be the right length. I'm not certain if this actually needs to be done, but might be worth looking into.

An obvious one as well is the wiring. Because on the DF the V8 has a 104 pin ECU whereas the 6 is 60 pin, the wiring will need to be changed, think this was only on the EFs though. Plus the V8 also has the TCM, not sure if AUs or onwards are the same though. Might be good to get a spare v8 engine and behind dash loom from the wreckers if needed, as I will be doing, because that way you dont have to go cutting, splicing, and potentially screwing the wiring you've got

You need to get a donor car Jughead. Engineering not required.
K-members are not different from EF-up.
EF six had 104 pin EECV, EL six went back to a distributor and 60pin EECIV. All V8's use 104 pin EECV from EF-AU.
