This is a mod I've been fantasising about for a bit. I've priced up and budgetted for all the parts, the thing I'm battling with is whether or not it can be done (without completely modifying the engine bay)

According to this;

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/about-th ... 31883.html

;you can fit an AU 6 into an EF with a fairly simple k frame modification. As far as I can assume the XR8's came with similar mounts and wiring, and as such it shouldn't be too much more of an effort to fit an 8 instead of a 6, but I can't find any doccumentation that suggests anyone has successfully done it before, so I'm understandably nervous about shelling out the several thousand $'s for the parts only to find it would be cheaper to just go buy an AU XR8...

So, has anyone here successfully dropped an AU Tickford into an EF??

Is there anything else I need to take into account other than the mounting/wiring??

Yep,
use the AU 5.0 engine mounts on your K-member.
and you can use the entire AU 5.0 harness in your EF so you can maintain the AU EEC if you want to.
Nic has done this and we flashed the smartshield out of his EEC so it works without the AU key and body module.

Awesome!

Very reassuring to know someone has done this before.

What exactly is involved in flashing the EEC? I don't know a whole lot about ECU's..

We need your EEC and we'll hook it up on the bench and reprogram the flash memory with smartshield turned off.
Ive done exactly this with my XG 5.0 van.

As pete said above,

I did the same to my EF, all the wiring is farely straight forward, just a matter of splicing the two harness to gethere, and running the ABS one speratly (miissing from the AU engine harness). Also this allows you to remvoe the auto ecu if you are planing on staying auto, and gives you a nice shift pattern too.

This set up now will also alow me to drop in a TE engine complete with out fuss :D

Hey Nic or Pete have you got anymore information on the engine swap as i'm about to put a Au S1 TS50 motor and auto into my EB S2 Fairmont Ghia.
I have been told that the best way to do it is to use Au eecv and splice into EB harness is this correct??. If so any recommendations for people in perth to do the wiring and flashing of the computer?
All the mechanical is straight forward enough but wiring is not my strong point so any help appreciated.

Well Steve, I spliced the AU EEC harness into my XG van but for someone who is not confident with wiring you may want to use an entire AU harness. There's still some things to overcome like temp gauge and tacho...the easy fix is to use an EF-up cluster.
I can help you with the reflash but I simply don't have the time for wiring.
