Should go straight in but be aware that the water pump in those AU's have a shorter pulley shaft than an E-series water pump so if you intend to add underdrive pulley's, the water pump pulley might interfere on the balancer.

I have done this to an EB. Check out this page -
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/show-off ... 5-920.html

What is the car you are starting with, obviously an EF, but is it a V8 already?

How far do you want to go with the engine fit? For example-
AU ECU, A/M ECU or a chipped EF/EL ECU?
Dizzy or coil pack?
The accessories, EF or AU?

If you want more info PM me and I'll help as far as I can.

Chris

nah the EF is currently a 6.

not to sure as how far i am to go. The engine will in time have more work done to it but for the time being will remain stock...INSURANCE!!

so i guess id like to do a complete changeover or as little as possible without the fuss.

thanks

If you get the whole harness with the engine you can keep the engine as is. Seeing as you have a six this would be the way to go as it's easier(less time consuming) than splicing into a six cyl harness. If you don't get the BEM and column it's ok because smartshield can be flashed out of the EEC.

I contacted about ten ford wreckers around the country, took close to 3 months for an engine to come available.

If you do get the engine harness and ecu, try and get a complete AUII dash harness incl ign switch wiring. That way you can have the smartshield setup too.

See my reply above, took about 3 months to find one, had 44,000 km on it.

Might be easier now, just put the word out amongst wreckers around Aus especiaaly around S.A. Ask especially at your local Ford wrecker, they may have some very good contacts.

Have you tried FTG Salvage?
If he has one he might be willing to freight one to you.

I got a good deal as I know the guys at my wreckers well.

$3500 + my old engine and box. For that I got engine complete, accessories, ECU, BEM, Steering column and all the au wiring i needed.

Remembering this was close to 5 years ago, and the eng only had 44000km on it.

you got bent over.... $3500 from a mate, I'd be expecting a 5.6 stroker for that much!!

I got a 200kw handbuilt ticky one with 80 thou km for $1600, from the local wreckers.

Mackagtho,

Yes it was a very good deal. The guys even held onto it for me for a month until I could get there to pick it up.

At the time they wanted to sell it for somewhere between $5500 - $6500. I even got the owners manual from the TS it came out of.

Apart from being a T2 TS50 handbuilt engine, it is one of the rarer engines with the SVO alloy heads instead of the GT40P heads.

Chris
