Check the MAF sensor connection

Check the intake air temp sensor (plumbed into the intake pipe on AU)

Does harmonic balancer vibrate?

Check the harmonic balancer. If you can actually move it with your fingertips then it is rooted and dangerous to run the engine under load with.

Yep. More so with AU as well... the pulley/balancer is integrated... also i believe the balancer has a 36-1 EDIS wheel for the ECU to determine crank angle.

I have been trying everything for the last 2months and i think it has been like that for a while you would be driving down the street and it was like a v4 and the all of a sunden it was live a rocket (i think i will stick being a plumber)lol

Umm... you dont want to drive it around any more than necessary.

The unevenness can damage the crank. That's bad. There's a small chance it can come loose or drop a belt. That's not too bad. Theres a chance it will try and work its way off and f**k the retaining bolt for the balancer, potentially ruining the thread on the inside of the crank. That's bad.

Give ford spare parts a ring. Im pretty sure you have to get a genuine part as the AU have special harmonic balancers as outlined above. Dont expect much change from $200 for an AU balancer (dont be tempted to get an EB-EL unit, they are cheaper but they wont work).

If you feel up to the job, you'll need a harmonic balancer puller and a 1/2inch drive with a 24mm socket.

A mechanic would charge you about $60 + parts i reckon... remove thermofans, remove serp belt, remove harmonic balancer retaining bolt, remove balancer, put new one on and put rest of parts together.

Good opportunity to replace the serpentine belt as well. $50 or so

BUT i would get a second opinion if you are not sure if its the balancer or not.

Chalk up another 2 victims to the Windsor's harmonic balancer :)

I've been there, done that...as have many others. Glad you fellas got em sorted. Like driving a new car now, huh?
