My modded ED 5.0L 270rwhp is to become a 347.
The auto is slowly dying so at same time as stroking will redo the auto.
Current box is 95LE with a morestall convertor.
Any suggestions of a better ATX to use- either later model or rebuild.
Is a daily driver.
Richie.

Not sure, but I am supercharging mine in the near future so am running a 95 LE with BA XR6 turbo bands, valves, shift kit.

Tuner reckons this should be alright for 170rwkw, but I guess the 347 is gonna pump out alot more...

correct they didn't but unfortunately they did put it in vehicles with their name on them, still not quite as bad as the decision to fit that discracefull 3.9L motor in the EA while the development of the 4.0L was being completed.

Yep - decision made ! Will look to manual conversion.
To rebuild and beef up auto - probably looking around $3000 & still have issues with convertor and PCM.
At least with manual I can use A9L ecu and have more control with the Tweecer over the EECIV but not sure about smartlock.
Any ideas for box type etc ?

Richie.

dont you have to be careful of what t-5 you get, some cant take a whole lot of power
when i was looking at going manual i was told the stock V8 manual is limited to 250kw
i was told to either get a Super Duty T-5 or a Extra Heavy-Duty

and they were not cheap
In my ford racing performance parts book it quotes 1,400 - 1850 for the box's alone, in american $$

ist the extra heavy duty T5 just the T5Z in the BA? i believe you can get any T5 box rebuilt to T5Z specifications.

Hi richie,

If you want to stay auto get an AODE/4R70W from a '94-95' stang. You can use a Baumann engineering TCS to control it or use a T4M0 or similar '94-'95 stang EEC and your TwEECer and it will control both engine and trans.
