Mate I got a pod filter set up in mine and if you go to the likes of autobarn or supercheap or repco and you look at the air filters - specifically pod filters - they have them for Falcons - good idea would be to rip yours out when you get there, take it in and ask a sales dude to match it up for you.

Going on from that - the local ford dealer informed me that the pod filter arrangement on my BA XR8 is not an option for them - is this correct or is the guy a sandwich short of a picnic basket??

As far as I know Ford were only released with a panel filter, Pod filters are something put on buy the owner. And in most states are required to be inside the original airbox.

Yes, I have a K&N filter for my XR8 Pod. The Pod is a common part on XR8's, GT and GT-P's of the same vintage. The intake for them by default is in behind the headlight.

I have, however, given it a second entry via a standard 'snorkel' and belows kit via a hole drilled in the side of the Pod. Check out the Fern Tree Gully area thread in the sponsors section of the forums.

From what i remember the pods were on the early BA 8s, but they got dis continued when the Mk 2? came in. Apparently the induction sound was too noisey and they had to use panel filters after that

Perhaps. I don't know about that.

The Pod was straight from the Mustang I thought. They just did a moulding and screwed it to the same mounting points as the pod box.

I don't know what model dropped the pod. I thought it may have been the BF myself.

My 3v 5.4L has a snorkel same as the AU XR8 snorkel only without the wings, and standard airbox

The BA XR8 Pod Housing is a bolt-up fit to the mount points on the wheel arch for any BA Falcon. The Pod from the Mustang was remoulded specifically for that reason.

So while I am guessing that there is enough room, the question is, how similar are the airbox mount locations on the EL to the BA?

I'm afraid I'm just a BA boy only, I haven't had any experience at all with E-series falcons.

Does anyone actually have one on an e-series and can tell us whats involved with making it fit, or any other brackets etc that need to be made up?

Well, if no tech docs exist, this sounds like a good time for someone who is feeling experimental to get in and do it and write one up for fordmods!

That's how most of them get written after all.....

I've seen one on an e series Falcon at BPT. I'm sure Terry said they do the kits for the e series. It may pay to give them a call.
