The computers gettign detuned were only for the BA series 1 4L engines, as they had problems with them as i recall.
The XR6t is a faster car, mod for mod it will always be in front. The Boss lacks too much in down low torque, and ain't impressive enough up top.

were all cars detuned? or do you have to get it done seperately? I've got a series 1.

only early xr6t's were reflashed due to overboost issues. stock for stock the xr8 is actually quicker in every mag i've read than the xr6t. motor actually got a 13.99 from the xr8. stock xr6t (post flash) struggle to crack 14.5. however all cars are different so you may end up with a very healthy one. in gear acceleration is a diff. story though. turb generally is quicker in this area.

workmates mate just bought an o4 xr6t and dyno showed 201rwkw. thats a very healthy example. i've seen figures as low as 160 - 180.
not all cars are created equal.

Suggest to him to change his diff gears and then race the turbo 6.I bet he will like the upgrade. Will help the 8 accelerate more quicker.

if you run a 3.7 ratio in the diff you will see improvements the xr8 utes run this ratio and the sedans have a 3.45 ratio but give the xr8 an edit and a set of underdrive pullys and youll see the xr6 turbos head lights in the rear veiw mirror if the xr8 is manual you will loose alot on the shift try putting in a shortened gear leaver so the throw to each gear is shorter

every article i've ever read the xr8 is quicker than the turb in a straight line. not by much but it is quicker. in gear acceleration may favour the turb but not sure. around a track the turb is quicker as the xr8 suffers from the wieght up front.

so, in stock form the xr8 is quicker down the 1/4

Guys the XR6T wasnt exactly "detuned" they leveled out the boost. As from what i have read and heard from guys who own the cars and some who work for ford, the early XR6T suffered from a boost spike, which gave you that kick in the guts they all knew and loved, but when they "detuned" when in reality they reflashed them, all they did was make the boost come on alot smoother and more constant trather then one big hit of boost out of nowhere (similar effect that nos has).

really?
i havent seen any that say that...
cars magazine didnt, car point didnt...

anyway, regardless, the XR6T is lighter therefore much quicker off the line.
i dunno a hole heap about the boss engines, exept they weigh a tonne, but if people are correct saying they lack low end tourque, it all makes sence.
anyway.... spend $3500 and get a stage 3 turbo upgrade- 350 kw they rekon (flywheel i assume)
