Hi all. Looking for a new motor for an ED xr8, i would like to know if this conversion can actually be done? Has anybody actually fitted a boss motor out of a BA in to an e-series falcon?

Well theres a pic running round here somewhere of a Windsor next to a Boss.

I say you have fk all chance of fitting a boss in there, maybe you should be looking for an AU XR8 motor?

it's been done, although it might have been an EB, but same thing.

Look for a thread about wagons, it's fairly recent, there links in there to it, the cars been resprayed in blueprint too from memory.

Put a LS1 in it instead :P But if you wanna stick with a ford you could probably put a stroked or supercharged windsor in there for the same money as putting a Boss motor in.

It can be done..Just as well the spark plugs are on TOP of the heads...
Take your time with clearance issues. Steering, sump etc..
There was a thread where someone fitted a supercharged 4.6 Mustang engine into an AU...
May have been on F/F.AU ??...
Fitment looked very good!!

these sort of projects only get done so that people can say they have done it. the boss is a big heavy motor and most reports have it being nose heavy in the ba. in an e series that would be a serious weight over the front wheels. for the money spent it would not net the best results but it would be unique.

i guess it depends if you want that something that no one else has (or very few) or if you are chasing numbers.

blasphomy ! stop swearing at me! lol

wouldn't an alloy v8 still weigh more than the cast/ally 6 though ? would be intresting to see some statistics.

All alloy V8 will be lighter by a fair bit.
All cast iron V8s are around 300-350kg (351 clevo - Id imagine a Windsor would be the same).
The SOHC sixes are about 250kg IIRC.
