Ftg are getting in a boss 290 next week and will let me know re cost. Atoll wreckers in WA have a motor and box with full loom for sale for $11,500 which I think is a wee bit steep. Regarding the coyote crate motor I'm quite intrigued by this. If it came down to it I think I might end up going with it as stock out of the crate it is more powerful and narrower than the 290. Either way I still think this is the route I'm gonna take. So when the build gets underway il be selling my worked 302 and top loader to add a lil more money to the build fund. Anyone that might be interested in it please let me know as it has a brand new edlebrock intake manifold, holley 465 cfm carby and msd coil and distributer. I'm not 100% sure what internals it has but I know it has a much bigger cam.

I just got a 47k boss 290 and full 6 spd man conversion from walliston wreckers in lesmurdie wa for 7.5k. it was from a bf gtp and to me thats a wicked price. Steve the owner has helped me and supplied everything i need and want for the conversion with no questions asked. I would call them and as already said RRS are the guys to talk to because thay do a notch kit which makes it easily possible to do this mod.

Yep it's complete. Nothing else to buy. That's before freight though.

the N/A motor is $6500 + the extras you mentioned... so you still have to drop the S/C ontop of that price

Thanks for the links. I like the GT500 s/c idea just not sure if it will fit under the bonnet. I don't really want anything coming out of the bonnet apart from the torino shaker I have. Still with the Aussie dollar the way it is it will probably be the direction I go.

hahaha i cant lie i do want to drop this lil gem in the XT. Its amazing how many times you change your mind when your building a car from the ground up. 400-500 plus import fees still isnt bad when you think about what this would cost us if we could get it here in Aus. Personally i would want a crate motor so i know it wasnt thrashed before being pulled out, that way i can do the run in myself (well on a dyno) and make sure its running the way it should, instead of having to fix other peoples mistakes. Thanks heaps for the info!

Yes except a 5.4 is already a very tall engine. The same blower on a coyote however is much lower

coyote ftw. Alloy block and forged internals standard. Even the NA versions would be a goer over the boss 260/290.

From what iv seen the coyote will produce 307 kw compared to the claimed 290 kw from the boss. And like posted earlier the coyote when s/c by bpt it can achieve 621 rwkw which is far more than the new s/c GT. Lighter smaller better I don't think there's much more to think about! Just gotta wonder what all that extra hp is gonna cost...

That's 621hp not kw...not that it matters much. I imagine if you run 15lb or so you'd be making 700+ rwhp.
When you consider that the N/A engine makes around 370rwhp you can see that they are conservatively rated at 412hp.

I only wonder how much money you have to throw at a boss to punch out those sorts of figures.

If it was me I'll go for the 5.0L cammer. they're now going for 8-14k off the crate, with 313-400kw in NA form. this is the father of the coyote in a way as it is all aluminum.

How much are the coyote going for these days directly off a crate from ford?

I think brother Slick here had a hard night on the cans last night.

Get a Coyote crate from Ford racing complete with street rod PCM kit and alternator kit for about $7500. Better, lighter, smaller engine than the 5.4 and should fit without cutting towers.
Btw BPT just did 621rwhp with their new intercooled, whipple blower kit for the Coyote.
