Ok they are D5 heads but they are similar to E7's in chamber shape.
The Edelbrocks dont have as much of a ridge in the scheme of things and it's much shallower and combined with the ally it means you don't have a problem.
Are you going to put bigger valves in those heads?

no no, that pic of the D5 was just a comparison.. mine are the E6's :-(

these ones:

I don't know what I'm going to do at the moment. I didn't realise I had E6's until now, I'm new to V8's having previously modifying Ford 2L's and 6's.

I think tidiously carving out the E6 chambers only to end up with uneven cc's etc might be a waste of time. I just wanted to run something until I could afford alloys.. :(

Yes I know you have E6's  . I was just saying that pic you showed was a D5 not an E7, although the chambers are similar in shape.
If it were me I'd just save up for alloys...actually I'd put a 351 in it but, I digress  ...the point is, why break open an engine to change heads later? The money you save by not trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear will go toward the good heads.

I'm still worried that my cam is too small... :? But I'll run it anyway and see how it goes.

Cheers, I'll keep progress updates on this thread.

Is it true that a V8 capri isn't road legal in all australian states?

There is a 351 capri getting around in Darwin quite frequently but they have relaxed laws up there.

Other than the drag scene i havent seen a V8 capri gettin around. Come to think of it they are getting a bit thin in the ground.

There are a few 351 examples here in Perth too and they're legal.
One of the stipulations here was that you have to use a V6 body to start with but I think there's ways around that too.

well most of it has been pouring money into a black hole..

I haven't really started yet, I've bought everything though. I've got a mounting kit from Blitz which inlcudes C4 trans mounts and engine mounts, Bronco sump and pickup. I'm getting the engine rebuilt with lots of good bits.

Can't see it being that difficult really? what trouble did you have? I'm a little stuck with finding a radiator but thats all so far.

Looks like it should bolt in pretty sweet with the mounts, I need to get my battery cable over to the opporsite side for the starter - was going to run it under the sump along the xmember. Need a cortina auto shifter from a MK2/3 for the C4... need to change ends on my accelerator cable to suit the throttlebod. Hopefully my edelbrock EFi intake fits under my bonnet!!! :? wire up another LINK ecu.. etc etc

You'll work it out I'm sure.. But it won't be plug and play...It will be worth it in the end.. I bidded on a local V8 Capri conversion on E bay. The body was rough with under coat and some bare metal. It sold in pieces for $9k.. They sell for around $20k+ With an EFI motor would make it more efficient, being latter model motor worth even more value...
Take plenty of pics and post on here...
Good luck.....

I used to have a mean little turbo 2L in it.. the old 2L cortina motor fully prepped with forgies and big valve head with a custom EFi unit on it and running a hybrid t28 turbocharger.

here are some pics:
http://www.retrotech.co.nz/capri.html

ended up being offered $6K for that motor and I always wanted a V8.. I thought I should get a nice 302 in there for $6K  :? now I'm hoping for 10 lol
