i had alot of trouble with the height of the motor, the sump, i had to smack the firewall back to fit the bellhousing of the c4 in, had to use standard manifold and turn them around because steering was in the way, or else i wouldve had to get custom extractors made. with the radiator i just used standard falcon one and got 3 inches shaved off the bottom so i didnt have to cut any of the apron out.

ill post a couple of my capri up tommorrow night, get some photos of it tommorrow at work.

hmmm.. I'm hoping the height will be okay.. I'm a little worried the big Edelbrock RPM EFi intake will be too tall... dunno what I'll do if it is. Maybe make an oldschool scoop and have it sitting up in there

I've got custom extractors from Castlemaine.. hopefully that takes care of the issues with the exhaust.

It's also a MKII capri so the engine bay is a little bigger than the MKI

we'll see what happens! :P

Looks nice mate, alloy heads really do look top notch sitting atop the windsor, dont they.

Good to see it all happening, as above, keep the updates coming.

here is an engine update:

As the sump is out of an old Bronco to suit the capri crossmember, it had no baffle. So I got this one cut and welded in. Gotta love thoe late model one peice rubber gaskets though! SOOOO much better than the old cork peices of crap.

Image

Here is the bottom end all fresh and new with the rear pick up on to suit the rear sump pan for the capri. The rods are lightened, arp bolts etc Duratec pistons.

Image

Here is what I was going to run.. Edelbrock EFi intake system. Very nice.. but I had a chance of heart and sold it. It wasn't keeping in the chosen flavour..so I sold it.

Image

and bought this. Hilborn scoop hides a 900cfm Holley TBi injection throttle which I'll be hooking up to a LINK ecu. Sitting on a Air gap manifold. This sticking out the capri bonnet is more the style I want..

i planned on using the factory rocker covers to get me started but they wouldn't clear the monster roller rockers I'd put on.. so I had so spash out on these tall ones.. look great through! I decided to remove the baffles from the inside as I am paranoid of one of the screws might heat up and pop out into my motor.

I'm currently working on a plan to get the alternator working on a single serpertine belt sytem. Just finished washing all the alloy off me from port matching the intake to the heads! productive weekend.. :P

with the 1.7 RR valve lift will be 462, I'm going to see how the cam goes before I change it as I hate over cam'd street cars. Whats wrong with comp cams double valve springs?!

Big progress now, with the intake manifold bolted in place and the sump on it was ready for a dummy fit up yesterday.
Fitting a V8 into a capri is kinda like putting a 2L into an escort.

We tried to fit the box in first and then the engine but there was no way this was going to happen. So we pulled it out and put in as one unit.

We noticed straight away that the sump which came as part of a kit from Teamblitz wasn't going to fit!! I had suspicions for a while that this might have been the case and I'm pretty f**** off about it. Especially after having it custom baffled and painted etc.

But luck we managed to source a correct twin-well Bronco sump which is what I should have been sent the first time. It fitted pretty sweet.

The extractors are f** tight on the left.. the correct procedure of removing the engine mount and feeding them up from under the car and twisting them around the steering column is a mission. But at least they fit.
The C4 fits mint as well, although I'm going to slot out the xmember to push the engine back 40mm to clear the steering. The downside to this is I think I'm going to have to ditch the heater as the water pipes will be hard up against the left head.. unless I can think of a way around this..
