That guy isn't making much power because hes spent all his money on the wrong s**t.
Porting the stock heads and keeping the stock manifold.
Noodle.
Get an AU XR8, best move you can make.
Has better flow flowing heads and manifold stock.
The 220s can do high-13s with boltons and diff gears.

Thanks Cam, I'm a lot better now and have been lurking quietly on FM for a couple of weeks now since being discharged.
Jared pointed out that guy's problem - his eBay photos appear to show a regular HO motor that he's ported but, you just can't get much power out of the original E7 / HO setup with just porting the heads and chucking in different cam ( which he hasn't been very specific about anyway and always starts up warning bells when lack of details about the heads used, camshaft used etc etc are mentioned ).

The rest of his car, as long as its straight, is fine but not worth his asking price with that motor setup.

ahh, and i suppose power figures arn't everything as well. Au's are still pretty expensive, you'd can get a boss 260 at the auctions for the asking price of some au xr8's.

Investigate the costs of upgrading a Windsor powered V8 and then the same for a Boss engine, compare and go from there. :)

Bolt on mods for the Boss engine are relatively cheap, and net some decent size gains.

Also investigate the price of dropping a Boss engine into an eseries. I doubt you will find it is cheap.

Its amazing how a topic of an engine conversion can go so far off track.

I'd steer clear of that blue EL mate. Like what has been said, the engine still has the HO inlet which means that this fella doesn't know what he is on about. And like what Vic said about the cam, what is a stage 3 cam? Sounds like he is selling it after he himself got burnt or is selling it for a mate or a rello. I can tell you now that the budget combo that I'm building now will eat that EL for breakfast and mine is a wagon. Although my combo is far from exotic, it will work and it wont have cost me the earth. Also remember that e series falcons are a much much lighter than heavy BAs, so the shove in the seat your BA gives you can quite easily be replicated by a nice light not so powerful E series Falcon..

ehehhe EL V8's are only 2kw more powerfull than a 6 Cylinder.
A head Change will cost you betwen 800 to 1500 bucks.

8 kw dude. 157 vs 165

All 5.0l motors from the EF and ELs are the same aren't they.
If you can source the motor, box and well everything under the bonnet for cheap, it isn't such a bad choice.

did you even read through all the posts dude. check my post above yours. el xr8's got minor power upgrade twice in there life cycle.

Your point being? I'm stating its more then the mentioned 2kw.
I noticed they got the 5kw pump up with the el s1. But thats not from the engine is it? its to do with the bolt ons?
