can you remove sump from a 400 cleveland in a 72 galaxie without removing the engine? maybe undo engine mounts?

Hi.. Ive done an 72 fairlane, took out thru bolts jacked up motor. Put thru bolts back in pedestals then let motor back down to rest on pedestals, dropped the front swaybar then removed sump.. not sure about your galaxie's suspension and swaybar setup but if its similar to falcon you may get away with it , I hope this helps:)

You may also have to remove the oil pick up once the sump comes away from the block, and rotate the crank to clear the throws/webs. Otherwise just jack it up and chock it securely and you should be OK.

already gave it a go, and its all done. its got 4v valves, 302 heads,mild port for the 2v intake and exhaust manifolds,stage 3 cam and lifters. should go alright but have done nothing to the bottom end yet(not enough cash. i'll track down a better manifold and carb later. still have to start it so don't know how it's going to go yet. fingers crossed.
