Ok can anybody help me with a picture or explain what the proper oil sender unit should look like to suit my 5 ltr it is in a DC LTD which has a sports dash instead of the digital dash  I have changed the actual oil guage to try and rectify a poor reading but nothings changed so it could be the wrong sender unit... help please

on my EF XR8 there was a extension piece for the oil pressure switch as the gauge one is a lot longer than the idiot light version

Great this means now I will have to buy the extension and another sender as I have sold the 6 cyl sender, (last time I listen to some idiot in a spare parts place) after asking this idiot was it the right sender 3 times he replied yes and took the $55-00 from me and the end result is a useless bit of plastic and metal (damd you Auto pro)

Genuine ford, bout 85 from memory, also need a deep long socket to get the original out.

Just ask for an oil pressure sender for an EB-ED XR8. If they try to give you a little thing that looks like a oil pressure switch give it back...it's wrong. The actual sender is quite large( at least 40mm diameter) and they ain't cheap so don't get one from ford. The last one I bought was about $80.

does a new oil pressure sender unit come with wires attached?
or do you plug your existing into the new unit?

Is it easier changing the sensor during an oil change while the oil filter is off?

Can a faulty sensor which reads too high when at idle and about 3/4 during driving cause poor fuel economy?

thanks.
