well after i replaced my timing cover and waterpump the thing leaked more than ever so i cracked the s**t and went to book it in at fords(only place to go here
 ) so they can fix it cos i thaught i must have stuffed the gasket or something but while i was there going through there huge workshop manual i found all the torque settings were heaps diferent. the max ellery manual was 5 or 6nm below fords spec on all timing cover and waterpump bolts and 5 or 6nm above ford spec on other bolts so after doing all bolts up to the ford spec it hardly leaks but now the gasket is stuffed and its all gota be done again  just posting this so others dont have to find out the hard way

You actually used the torque settings for the timing cover/water pump?!
Torque wrenches come in a box.... cos no-one uses them! (ok its cos they're sensitive) what happened to 'do it tight.... but not too tight'?

lol so far the only torwue settings i have seen used are head bolts.
the others are probably through experience tightness

It is an art to do up bolts without a tension wrench, it takes time & experience.

Likewise, I picked up the original EF one for about $80.00. Mines only an EF so didn't need the later information, although if I ever got the chance I'd upgrade just so I have it... |
