I had a look at an EB XR8 auto with 325,000kms. I lifted the dipstick and the end was a milky color. On a test drive when accelerating hard it would blow a big cloud of grey smoke.

What does this mean? Would the motor be on its last legs or need some servicing?

walk away and look at a different car, Blown Headgasket, and possibly more, which on a windsor is a big deal

WHAT?????
repairs may be expensive depending on what avenue you take, so i guess it depends on how attached you are!!
definitely will be a blown h.g.('s) and possibly cracked head(s). seeing its done 325k km's you may consider a engine transplant with a low k's windsor. will possibly cost around 2500 at a guess.

as above it it is more than likely a blown head gasket or 2 or even a cracked head/s or if your really unlucky its both, but either way there's coolant getting into the combustion chambers. if the rest of the car is in good clean nick and you can buy it relatively cheap. then go for it.

off the bat your up for head gaskets machine and press. test heads. top and bottom rad hoses, if the rad. is ok then you just get it cleaned if not then your up for a new one. new oil filter, cooling system flush and refill.

like i said if its clean and cheap then maybe its a goer it would be a massive plus if you could do the work yourself

also another common thing with the v8 is the timing case corrodes and the coolant/water leaks into the engine giving the symptom of a blown head gasket...

but its probably not worth the risk to but something like that....
