hi members, i previously bought an eb siries 1 xr8 earlier this year, since i have bought it, it has had a minor problem with starting, when cold start it fires 1st time with no probs, but once the temp is up you try to start it an it just winds over! it has spark, fuel and air but still wont go :?: ! wondering if anyone out there could give me a few pointers!

Hey im not 100% sure, if windsor v8's are fitted with a crank angle sensor or not but if someone else in here confirms they are Id look at that, It was a typical problem in VN,VP,VR v6 commodores, starts cold now worries, run no worries but shut it off and try start it again nightmare, a little trick you can try (if CAS is fitted) is when the engine is warm and wont start try poring a little cold water on the CAS and if the car starts, the CAS is on its last legs, replace it. Hopefully windsor v8s have a CAS so i dont get burned by some more knowledgable members, and i was of some assistance.

e series v8's are not fitted with crank angle sensors.

i had a problem with mine, would run fine when cool but as it warms up it lost spark and stopped dead. turned out to be the hall effect sensor inside the distributor. others have had similar trouble with the TFI module on the side of the dizzy.

im now running a MSD variant with no issues so far..

As mitchg911 pointed out, you might swap out the TFI as that has caused such problems before. ( breaks down under heat )
