Thanks all for help again,
It was mentioned to me that another car had the same probs as this ...they fitted new TFT on distributor and all probs gone.
Question is _ is the tft module on an I6 dissy the same as the V8?
I have a new spare dizzy for my ed I6 with a new tft module on it...same size...same no of pins..and the plug on the V8 fits straight into it.
Can I use it to test if the V8 one is faulty?
And what price are they roughly.
Thanks again
Kenno

Tmk they are the same.. They are often on E bay...
TFI Thick film ignition...
Keep the glue as it acts like a heat sink ..

Haven't tried the tfi swap yet as I just found something happening that some of you may guys may be able to diagnoze and point me in right direction.
Just tried for spark on no 1 plug. Noticed when key was turned to ignition, the plug started sparking erratically but when key in start...turning over motor...no spark at all.
Anyone recognize what this may indicate???
Being a newbie here I dunno whether to make a new post about plug sparking when ignition on...or should I leave it here in this post...just thought a new post with a specific heading might draw more attention....whatya reckon.

Cheers

TFI on the dizzy or the Crank Angle Sensor? Sounds to me like the crank angle sensor has shat itself. Had a similar problem on my old futura. Engine gets hot, sometimes it would just conk out at idle then not fire again for about 30 minutes or so until the engine cooled a bit. Sensor was kaput.
