Hi all,

Having owned the Xr8 for a few days, its time for mods.

I like the results people have been getting with the TrickFlow stuff so thats were im starting.

TrickFlow Stage 1 cam
1.7 Roller Rockers
TrickFlow Intake manifold
70mm TB

Would these mods run happily with the standard auto, standard ECU and standard injectors?

Where can i buy these parts from at good prices?

Any info would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Hi mate, yeah I'm running the whole Trick Flow top end kit. It should run fine with the standard auto. As for running with the standard ECU and injectors, it probably would if you also ran the standard MAF, but then you're going to be limited, power-wise, by the MAF and injectors. There'd be no point in running the 70mm TB, you may as well keep the stock one if running the stock MAF.

I have an AU MAF with stock electrics in that, 24lb injectors and have tuned the car with a twEECer. I would recommend you do these things as well to get the most out of your combo.

One thing I would change with the combo, though, is change the intake to a Holley SystemaxII. That will be the only thing I change on the top end when I get my 347 built, to start with. Even if I wasn't building the bottom end, I'd still be getting the Holley.

I bought the kit, plus everything else I needed from www.summitracing.com . They are really easy to deal with and everything gets here pretty quick. One recommendation when dealing with them is to call and place your order and get a quote for freight over the phone. In my experience, the online quotes are much higher than what they are when you call them.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the tips Scaffy.

There are full kits on EBAY for $2800 from the US.

Seeing how these are for Mustangs, would they be a straight bolt on for our Xr8s?

You can get the complete kit from Summit - http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-K514-360-350/

Yeah, it's pretty much a bolt-on kit. The intake is pretty tight on the fuel rail.

The Holley is good but can only be fitted t/b to drivers side...
Yes MOST gains when modifying these engines is the MAF calibration / tune...
The Lightning MAF works well also..

Any videos of your car at all?

WOW, and that is a stage 1 cam?

I wonder if anyone here has done these mods with a standard auto?

Whats the fuel economy like? I know its a silly question but its the wifes car.

My Nissan is lucky to get 200km to a tank on Ethanol but that is a weekend car.

There is a guy over here who had the kit fitted to his Auto 5L. I know he had a few issues, but nothing to do with the auto. No reason for it to pose a problem. I'm getting around 400 - 450km to a tank. If I do all country driving, sticking to the speed limit, I can get 500km.

I imagine at US$2700 from Summit, you'd be up for about ~AU$3500 delivered?

once you take into consideration Postage/Duties/Conversion rate.

thats not bad actually.

This sort of job can blow out abit if a mechanic does it for u so expect 5k once all installed but u then need maf, injectors tune so once thats done ur looking at 6k or maybe more.

Putting anything on a set of E7 stock heads is pointless really.
Much better getting decent heads and some compression in to start.
Stock T/B is good for a 13 sec pass, hard to get E7's there....for value for money.

ELGT - we're talking about the Trick Flow top end kit, which includes alloy Twisted Wedge heads. E7s are out of the picture...
