Hey all, need to get some info about the 8's as i drive a 6 so dont know much about them...

My old man wants to look at doin work to the 5ltr EL and the 5.7ltr BA,
Does anyone have any prices first of all for the CAPA BA Flash edit...
Is it worth it, where can you get it cheap, and most importantly, how many kw's will this pump out after the flash edit?

The CAPA Box for $995 can be used on 5 cars... since we only own 1 BA we dont need that, just want it flashed once and forget it :)

Now the EL... Somethins fcked in the EL and I got no idea what...
Has been p***y footed around its whole life so the piston rings are probably seated in somewhere they shouldnt be by now...
Has been serviced by Fraud regularly its whole life.
But now, Its just so .... slow .... This car should be a weapon, but my 6 SMASHES it ... not only off the line but all the way down the street...
I mean this thing cant even beat a Honda Legend.... THATS WANKTASTICAL...

Looking for a place around the shire to get it serviced etc, and also need to know what is involved in freshening up this motor, its in perfect nick but just abit sluggish...

Also it stalls sometimes when its started first thing in the morn, been back to fraud 7 or 8 times and still has the same problem so i dunno what that is, but could be related...

Any ideas???
Thanks fellas..

the BA is a 5.4L, not a 5.7, that's a commo! :S.
the barra v8 ghias are supposed to do 13s with about 4-5k spent on a full exhaust and tune.
and 5L ELs are slow as, so don't expect them to be quick. wouldn't surprise me if a 3.2 legend could beat it, my mate's legend could almost keep up with my xr6, and i could kill a stocko 8. basic v8 mods like an exhaust and different heads etc will wake the windsor up!

It used to be much quicker...
Its already got aftermarket exhaust and headers and twin high flow cats.

I would expect that on a highway between say, 60 and 120 the V8 should easily take down a 6... My 6 is pretty much stock with an aftermarket exhaust and nothin more and it absolutely slaughters this thing, leaves it for dead ...
I know from experience it should be much quicker then it is, it feels really sluggish.. even my parents notice it and they are p***y foots...

HAHAH Southy ... I never left .... CAUSE NOBODY HERE EVER DOES!!

For the el if its a series 1 a little bit of headwork, cam, upper and lower intake.

Series 2 probably needs just a cam and perhaps a better ratio set of diff gears 3.9 - 4.11.

As for the BA it depends on the issue of warranty. If your not worried about it then i'd go for the flash tune, full exhaust, better airbox and maybe a larger tb.

www.capa.com.au has a complete pricelist on all the parts so you know what u can budget.

Now N/A (permanent Lag) - AFR 165's, Comp XE270 cam, 1.6 RR - 269 rwhp 14.1 @ 102mph.

for the ba this would be my suggestion...

1. full exhaust (recommend di filippo) $2000
2. air box (blue power or g&d) $650
3. flash tune with custom tune $1300-1500

then you might wanna get hi stall, cooler on the auto, depends how deep your pocket is :) with all that you should be getting lows 13s street trim
