thanks all,
so the extra $1700 for the vortech is just for the extra goods needed and supplied?
the actaul units are the same price?
If paying approx $8000 for the powerdyne installed would you just go the extra couple for the vortech installed?
Is it that much better you think and worthwhile for the vortech?

It depends what you're looking for...

Yes - both the vortech and the powerdyne units are worth about $3k brand new.

The powerdyne is ok if you are looking for a basic setup and dont plan on running more than 6-7psi. The internal belt drive is their weakness - this limits the internal impeller speed and also makes the unit vulnerable if you are constantly snapping on and off the throttle. They are therefore suited to standard engines with automatic transmissions.

The vortech is bulletproof. It will run as much boost as you need it to and will last for hundreds of thousands of kilometers when looked after.

I'd go the vortech as down the line you may decide to upgrade heads, manifold, fuel system and therefore want to run more boost...

would you leave the engine stock if going with the vortech at approx 12 psi?

Yes if I did it again I would just throw a Vortech on a stock engine, best bang for $$$ IMO.

This months performance ford CAPA list a blower kit for AU V8 at 4995, but the E series abot 6300. Is there any real difference in the AU to E series V8's as i would probably order the AU kit if it bolts straight up. I havent had a chance to give them a call as i am doing some weird a** hours at work at the moment

The AU kits don't come with injectors or MAF because they already have 24lb injectors and the stock MAF is used in a draw through setup (it works but its not the best option). They also run a different puley setup although I can't see that changing the price.

SO how is the pulley set up different, I already have a Walbro, 24's and a ProM 75mm MAF, so this would definitely be the kit provided that the pulley set up is compatible

From what I can see it runs a different bracket, not sure if the mounting pints are tha same though, and instead of running the blower and power steering pump on the same belt like on the e-series kit, the AU runs the blower and water pump together. I am sure they will be able to do a similar cost on an EB-EL kit minus the injectors and MAF, plus you will also save more because you wont need the Vortech inline fuel pump or chip (just use your unichip).
