what about a turbo on the 6? you can get some pretty good bang-for-your-buck with a snail strapped on the side! :)

The AU is a 220 and the EL is at best 185. Do the math the 220's go well. Having said that neither one as a bog standard will get mid 13's except in your dreams. Both are going to require work so if you like the EL better then buy it and with the money you save not getting the AU you will almost pay for the mods to get a ball tearing EL (kickass boy)

Just my opinion,

I think EL's kill the AU in the looks department, plus what you save on getting the EL could easily be spent on mods to blow an AU

A series 1 AU XR8 would probably cost you less than a series 2 EL XR8.

AU XR8 has GT40p heads, 70mm MAF, and IRS standard. All things that make it a better option than the EL in my opinion.

The right combo of cam, exhaust, tune, gears, (and converter if auto) should get you into the 13's no dramas....even when starting out with the 185kw motor.

If you plan to mod anyway, the AUIII XR8 provides a much better base to start from. Another thing to consider may be the recent availability of an ECU flash edit for the AU series...
