Well I have recently purchased a 96 EL XR8 and not being that familiar with mods on the V8 version im keen to find out some stuff on mods, the engine as far as I know is stock and I am keen to mod it a bit. Would I start with a Set of GT40 heads and cobra manifold, Underdrive pulleys? Cams? and where I can source all this stuff. Remembering im in SA and there isnt that much around here

Underdrives from BPT.

GT40p heads and Cobra Manifold would have to be sourced second hand, off a AU Xr8 but you wont find a cobra manifold there, but the explorer they have will suffice.

If you are going to be after a set of heads, maybe a set of alloy heads (AFR, trickflow) and squeeze a bit more out.

Have a look at XH5LWEPN and Scaffy's threads as they have had alot of info and results.

Now N/A (permanent Lag) - AFR 165's, Comp XE270 cam, 1.6 RR - 269 rwhp 14.1 @ 102mph.

speak to fisher performace ,he knows his s**t .he is rebiulding my boss 260 new heads ,cams and a tuff a** end bla bla.He is across the road from the scotty's motel on main north road .

Cheers guys, I have been talking to mechanics(my family owns a dealership and I work at it) But our mechanics arent really into all that and dont really know much about it. Can you just bolt the heads on and the manifold? and instant power?

Sure can, though a new Cam and Roller rockers will have a fair bit more too.
