Hi Guys,

I wanna get a nice chunky sound outa my BOSS 260, i had cats back 2 1/4 in a single 3inch, which sound chunky, but droned to the s**t, i now have duel 2 1/4 pipes from cats back (including single muffler per pipe) the drone has gone (thank F**k) but it sounds like a 6cly on drugs now not a real v8. I have heard some XR8's gettin round and they sound mean as. im changing to duel 2 1/2 pipes in the next month or so, and hopefully that will put a smile on my dial. havent got extractors as yet gonna cost bout $1000 to do them. Just wondering what you guys are running, and what you have done to them. Any help would be great

Cheers

Hey there, i got a full twin system cat back on my Boss 260
They put 2 semi-straight thru lukey mufflers first (i think theyre called super turbos or turbos or something), then after the diff put 2 really big diameter hotdogs (called barrels) then twin 3" tips (about 10" long).
Its the sweetest sounding Boss motor i have ever heard, i love it, all my mates love it!
It sounds good when you give it stick, but when you want it to be quiet it sounds really nice. Im more than happy with it
Hope this helps.
Shadow

Go with the barrels, I know its not the Boss but on my T3 engine it has cat back 2 1/4 with one barrel in the guts and another after the diff before exit and the same applies when cruising sounds great when up it it sounds awesome. no other mufflers at all and seperate twin with 5/8 balance pipe just behind cats.

I run a 3 inch difillipo system sounds great and doesn't suffer from any drone at all.

I went the Manta System wiv Genie Extractors...twin manta dogs in centre and resignator at rear on twin 2.5 inch system...No droning and very raunchy when you give it stick.. Gives a punchy sound on idle too.. Gonna eventually stick high flow cats on it tho.... but sounds a treat the way it is...

Yea sound clips would b awesome, i have since done nothing about it, but next week or week after, Tuned Pacemaker headers replacement dual muffler with the existing dual 2 1/2 will be put on, will get a sound clip when its all done. Will be looking at hi flow cats down the track, as someone already pointed out.

Cheers

hey mate ive had 2 ba xr8s now and i know wot ur talking about i changed the system on my first ba twice.. i also have mates with ba's... i had a twin 2.5" on my old one first that was made by cross force i think.... but it was to quiet so i had the front muffler cut out and then it sounded wicked.... with the ba's best bet is to get a reputable companys rear muffler and have the rest twin 2.5 strait thru
