Hey readers, it's been a while.

I have had some recent additions to my stables including a nice 94 DC LTD..

I will be making up a build thread somtime soon but have some other things on the cards.

So for now I have been thinking about different options and have a few questions.

I have done the trawling and searching so if anyone is interested in helping, give me all the info you have..

1. Underdrives.
I have read the underdrive sets from the US need machining of one of the pulleys to fit, water pump I think it was.. Can anyone confirm this?
Are charging issues a problem? Can it be adjusted or fixed anyway?

2.
EGR valve.
I have seen a few engine bay photos with a blanking plate over the provision.
What's the deal with removing it? Is it highly involved? I started reading about quaterhorse a little. And saw the tech diagram for the diode bypass.
Basically I think it looks ugly so if its easy enough to remove then I'd like to.

3. Phenolic Spacers.
Where from? How much? Have you got one?
What thicknesses clear the bonnet? Any recommendations?

I may edit this later and add some new queries..

Also, if you have some photos of your CAI setup and engine bay put them up here and give me some ideas.

Thanks heaps everyone.

1. I'm not too sure

2. I completely removed my EGR, and all associated components.

3. I have a 1.25" Phenolic Spacer in my ED with no clearance issues.

What was involved in deleting the egr? Did you need to re tune the ECU?

What was involved in removing it all?

you can get a moates quarterhorse j3 or maybe a ti chip?
the with the moates stuff you can switch off egr features in the ecu, as well as tune the engine yourself... which is a bonus...lol

im running a 3/8" phenolic spacer but mine is purely to clear the rocker covers..

you can get the spacer from summit racing...

With the quarterhorse or j3 chip with eeceditor y can both be told to switch egr off so there is no diodes or any other nonsense.

Yes you can get the underdrives cheaply in the states but they only fit eseries (with mods to the bolt holes on the water pump pulley)

Phenolic spacer's come in a few lengths but to clear aftermarket covers that are under 3.5'' a 3/8 should be all you need.

If the car doesn't have a proper exhaust system ie standard my pick for the headers would be a pair of hurricanes, with a dual exhaust system preferably 2.5'' IF you have any real plans for the engine in the future.

You can pick up 1.7 yella terra roller rockers if you just wanted to bolt on a few more kw's, but the biggest gain would be a diff ratio change if its an auto from std to 3.7/3.9/4.11.

Water pump pulley needs machining for underdrives.
Fitting a BA 6 cylinder pulley to the alternator will fix the charging problem.

Removal of EGR will require programming through a quarter horse. The diode and resistor pack is just so it doesn't throw a fault code.

Summit for the spacer.

Definitely go 3.7/3.9/4.11, I'm keen to get my 3.9's in the car, and my next step is tuning. Then blower.

This ^^ 8-)

Ive got myself 3.9's that were in the eb xr8 that I had the raptor on (was a tyre fryer) ready to go in once ive got the cash, and apart from bolting the twisted wedge 170's on the diff gave it nearly as much go forward.

Thanks everyone for your input. All that was very helpful.

Bunch a legends.. Cheers.

I read up a little so far on the Quaterhorse program, looks pretty handy all around.
I already have a J3 chip though so I might get that tuned up.

However it's purely because I think it's ugly is why I want to remove it. But really is the removal and retune gonna make much difference or benefit? Or should I get over it and leave it there and put the effort and money elsewhere.. Maybe chrome it or paint it anodised purple.. Lol.

Thanks for the BA pully tip there Matt_jew. Ill track one down.

I picked up a EL XR8 Manual so I've got a manual conversion kit now too.
An a diff too... Gotta wait to get it to the block yet but it should be an LSD of some sort being XR V8.

Hurricane headers comes up often when I read about exhaust systems, so ill be looking into a set..
Anyone got or know of a second hand set for sale?

3/8 seems to be the way to go for the spacer..

And those swivel thermostat housings look pretty cool. Should get about 5kw extra from the blue too! :-D

Ill suss all that out over the next couple of weeks. Got to replace the brake booster too...

Thanks again fellas,
