Hi guys,

I am thinking of buying a BA 5.4 XR8. I currently have an EL Fairmont Ghia 6cyl auto.

I am currently getting about 400 - 430 kms from a tank of fuel, just wondering if anyone can tell me the consumption around sydney (peak hour traffic mostly) in an XR8 semi-auto.

Thanks!

depends on how u drive it. If you p***y foot around then you should get about 14L/100k so it would be in the same neck of the woods as the ghia, but who said anyone holds their foot in a xr8, so im thinkin somethin like 350-400 :P haha, but yea the new v8's r pretty good for consumption.

As a guess you could expect it to use at least 10% more fuel just because its that much heavier than the EL.

This changeover isn't about saving money on petrol thats for sure.

I don't believe they are any more efficient around town than the EL so it will cost you more to move more metal about at the same speeds and lots more if you accelerate hard a lot. On the freeway it might actually be better though.

Hey guys... Fitted an induction system to my BA XR8 and was money well spent... I used to get 16/100 smashing my foot down all the time but now I get 12/100... A happy John Doe...

Your buying a V8 and your concerned about fuel consuption?
I used to think the same too but then someone pointed that if you can afford a V8 then you can afford to put as much petrol (Ultimate 98) in it as it wants.

Fair enough.

if you had a heavey foot in th i6 you'd use 14l/100 + a soft foot in the xr8 would prob not better this... at least stop start in the city...
