All the EB/ED ones I have looked at were not speed limited, but if it is then the only way to remove it is via a chip like chiptorque/unichip etc. Only way to really check easily is to run it at 180kph using a dyno or track to be safe.

Some ED's are (my gli is) - chaser ECU, "Speed cut lifter" (now unsupported) or aftermarket chip will remove it.

Apparently there is a module you can buy and put together from Jaycar that will remove the speed limiter. I am not sure if this is real or not, but speak to TerroristGHIA.

Otherwise as people have said, you either require later model Tickford ECUs or a few hundred will get you a chip from Chiptorque/Unichip that will remove the limiter for you.

The module drone mentioned doesn't fix the speed limiter, but it does fix a speedo with different diff gears. It changes the signal to the ECU so the speedo reads acurate, but then you have the problem of the diff gears affecting the change up/down point on the auto, as it has a full throttle speed it requires before the next gear is selected. The best way to remove a speed limiter is to fit an XR8 ECU. I did to mine and it works beautifully
