hi guys, thoughts on these items?
is the manifold worth that much?
are the heads worth that and are the AFR165's about $1000 better, tossing up on what heads I want.

The manifold is way too much. Probably because its polished and he wants his money back. The heads are about right.

Whether you want the AFR 165s or the GT40Ps depends on what sort of power you want. AFR will give you more power but at a greater cost.

I've stuck with Explorer and GT40Ps and I'm hoping for about 170rwkw.

that's not the standard head on the 185kw El is it?
how much more power will the afr's give?
been doing alot of reading and they seem most popular for a street 302 windsor?

nope, el's didnt get the 40ps.
shouldnt you already have the explorer manifold? (going by your name)
have you read xh5ltwepn's thread? its a good read if your keen on a set of afr's. what sort of power are you looking for? if your after 200+rwkw id def be looking at the afr heads. how much power will the afr's give, thats going to depend alot on what other parts you use in the combo

afr heads are alloy.
the direction you take would be determind by your budget and what sort of power you want to make and can you wait a while for the afr heads to get to australia. afr state a 4 week lead time if they dont have the heads you want on the shelf.

all depends on how much you want to spend and your goals for the project
i guess.

id go the aftermarket heads, they flow heaps better, weigh less and by the time you port/polish the 40ps new valves and springs you might aswell have just gone aftermarket in the first place

No only the T1 TS50 (220kW) and some of the T2 TE & TS 50s had alloy heads, for later T2s and the T3 5.6L FTe then went back to the iron GT40Ps but had Yella Terra do a small CNC job along with a slightly larger valve.

All AU V8s ran GT40Ps
