Hey all,
Managed to get hold of some gt40p heads and an explorer manifold. Wanting to ask if there will be any complications with swapping this gear onto a ef xr8? eg: will the standard head bolts, pushrods, manifold bolts, throttle body connections etc... be suitable or will i need to get them to suit the new gear????

p.s the parts are off an AU XR8 Series 3

Any help would be appreciated.. :D

They are direct bolt on units and you can your standard stuff (although head bolts cannot be reused as they are single use items anyway so you will need a new set of them). Only general issue with GT40P's is the spark plug clearance because they have different angles. You will need pacemaker or genie extractors (other may also fit but I have not tried them) and 90 degree angled sprak plug leads instead of the 135 degree stock ones.

What about the manifold? will it be straight forward, i heard the injector plugs are different...

AU's changed to an EV6 fule injector with a USCAR connector, so it is different to the E-Series which were EV1/Jetronic connector.

The electrical plugs on the AU injectors are different, but if you just plan on using your stock injectors on the AU manifold they will fit no problems.

Don't forget you will have to relocate or tap a provision for the air temp sensor.

Did you get the bolts with the AU manifold? If not, you'll need 2 of the longer bolts, the rest can be reused

What about pushrods, seeing as these heads have roller rockers make any difference??
