i have to change the harmonic balancer but i cannot turn the bolt in it without turning the engine over

what i did when i replaced mine of my el i6 is we got a strong arm bar with the right socket on it and we got someone to turn the motor over by starting it whiched worked well by loosing the bolt

Rattle gun....short of that, all spark plugs in handbrake on, and in park/5th with big breaker bar. Worked for me before I got the rattle gun.

i used a breaker bar with a piece of water pipe over it to extend it and smacked it with the biggest hammer i could find, worked great

failing all that, on my brother EL 5.0 we just chocked the flexplate to stop the motor turning.
