My EL Fairmont 5.0 V8 is showing pretty high oil pressure. For some silly reason at idle it sits right up near the top about a notch down from the red, If I give it a bootful, it actually drops down about a notch. I checked the oil and it is a little bit over full but not much.

Any ideas? Oil is about 4000km old.

I think it usually was about a notch lower than it is at the moment.

One day I checked the oil just as I turned the car off, I topped it up a bit surprised as it was just under full, when the oil came down now its a little overfull.

Is this dangerous to continue running until next oil change??

It will just be a common electrical fault with them, my ute does the same.
Possible faulty sender or bad earth in circuit.
Only way to get an accurate oil pressure reading is to fit an a/market mechanical oil presure guage.

Have NL with same oil pressure reading issue - changed sensor all now OK. Could also be bad contacts on connector causing higher resistance.
