Seriously though it s**t me off when people bag things they have never done/driven.

An EF/EL unless its worked to the s**t and certainly not one running on gas without a custom computer and a tune will not monster a BA V8, 3V or 4V configuration. Let alone a 6-Speed ZF.

The predicted tennis match is on (modified vs modified)

It seems that McEnroe is playing for the 3V team though :?

thats exactly what I've thought, Fair enough, he says an el xr6 manual is faster than my car, i'll give him that even though i've never been in a manual el xr6 and I know my auto BA is alot faster than an auto el but faster than a 220kw v8 is a bit rich.

craigs xt was a monster! i had a drive of it and i couldnt believe the power compared to mine. its a pity he sold it, he had plans on getting it into the 11's without a turbo or s/c. i just cant wait til he starts his next project :)

JMC-007, just out of curiousity (and not part of the argument) what sort of fuel consumption are you getting? My mum's is a pretty big fuel guzzler (15.7) and for bog stock I thought was a bit high. But then most people said they're just like that.

Cheers

Actually JMC,
The lightning engine is a 2V without VCT but otherwise I agree with you entirely.

The 3 and 4 valvers are good engines, but the bodies they inhabit are very heavy and that restricts them a lot.
The fairmont ghia is the slowest car in it's brand new field when compared to the calais and 300c, and the xr8 doesn't achieve too much in that way either, so in my humble opinion that justifies being a fairly disappointing street car?
I can appreciate you like your car, and yeah, with a few bucks thrown at it it's probably a damn nice drive. That said, OUT OF THE FACTORY which is what I was originally talking about, it could be a lot better.

Alright f**k.
I was talking stock for stock.
I have driven almost every ford in the current range, so that pisses off your theory. The 3valvers are boring stock, they don't feel quick at all, and they are not fast. If it ran quicker than a 15.2 I would be surprised. Does it open up better than a 10 year old six? You'd f**k wanna hope so. I was simply saying in factory trim it is a boring slow car that drinks a s**t of petrol.

They are not slow. you think the BA/BF is heavy how big do you think a 300c is.

Now going back to what the original guy asked. Either a 545i V8 BMW with billions of kms on it or a low km BA Ghia you can work with and get parts for.

I would take the ghia.

I am quite happy with my car. Slow it is not.

You keep shooting your mouth of with utter crap. You drive an E-Series for chirst sake.

If you drove an XR6 Turbo or something decent then i would take some of your s**t on board.

Voxace has been in my car and he knows its not slow. He has a fast E-Series and his is not slow either.

Keeping in the true spirit of the thread your the one wasting everyones time with utter crap.

Idiots like you give places like these a bad name.

As i said I told you its not the fastest car on the planet but its quick enough.

The guy asked what should he buy. SIMPLY from my experience he should not waste his money on an old 5Series Bimmer but rather spend similar cash on a Ba Ghia 5.4.
