Look, the title of this thread is how fast is a v8 ba ghia. I said slower than an EL XR6 stock, which might I add you've shown no information to disprove this, hence I was on topic at the start. I don't want to waste this thread.
Just because I drive a slow car doesn't mean I don't know what a fast car is, I have driven quick cars in my time.

here you go. A proper comparison.

Have a read over that information. There is no way in HELL a I6 Manual in Stock form is going to be quicker.

If it was modded like voxace's car then yes it would be faster. BUT NOT STOCK.

You really do have an ants nest for a brain.

Guys - edit your threads with the personal attacks in them or I will do it and start issuing bans - I am getting sick and tired of wading through irrelevant posts / insults, as I am sure everyone else is too.

YTMONT / jmc - consider this a warning.

is this still going on? lol. the 3v in stock form is slow and drinks alot! modded its a different story.

a stock el xr6 will beat a stock ba 3v, not that hard to understand is it?

JMC-007 have you had any work done to your car yet?

Thanks for the advice guys, i think i had the wrong idea about a ba ghia v8. I used to have an EL 6 and it was pretty slow, so i'll probably look towards a mid 90's bmw 540i or something.

I dont know why but i had this idea in my head of a v8 ghia being a mad sport sedan sleeper type car.

Still just tossing up ideas though really. I have had a few BMW's and a few falcons, so still need to explore whats available. I was also looking into a Volvo 850R! They are a sport sedan, 1400kg, 185kw 350nm, 0-100 in 6.1 seconds, full luxuries, all for around 14K. too bad its FWD.

Anyway thanks for the advice i will take it into consideration

there is no way that my ef i6 would beat jimmys ghia it would eat me and ive had a lot of work done. just cause its an xr6 doesnt mean its going to eat an 8. 2 more cylindars means a lot and yes the ghia is heavier but u just have to take a ride in one to feel the power difference. taking a testdrive with jimmy was very fun.... damn traction control

if you want a performance car, why get a GHIA in the first place... I bought an EL GHIA 5.0 Litre because.

1. I wanted luxury.
2. I love V8's and they have a much better feel than a 6cyl.
3. With very little moding, they can be quite quick.

a Ghia has less power than an XR8, heavier, auto ect...

If your after an all round comfortable car with a bit of performance... lots of gadgets and toys, sure, get a Ghia, nice car, faster than a Toyota corrolla, but by no means is it a performance car.

For the record, ive put a 3" exhaust and pacemaker extractors, a good air intake system - and ive blown EL XR6's off in my EL V8 auto...

A proper exhaust and extractors is money well spent, ive noticed better fuel economy and power.

For all the extra money spent buying an XR6/8 - i have spent less buying my car and modding it to be quicker than the XR would cost all up.

I would buy the BA Fairmont, Beautifull car, all the putting down and digging the knife in wont change this...

In the end, nothing can beat a newer car, they generally have less km's, are in better condition and newer technology - These are my reasons NOT to get a 90's BMW...

Thats my bit for the day...

It can be...just not as delivered from the factory. You'll need to get extractors/exhaust, airbox/pipe, diff gears, custom tune (edit).

ACE have some packages on their website, and they are the real deal. http://aussiecar.com/powerupgrades.html

Can you say "12-second Luxury Sedan under $25k" ;)

couldn't find specs on an el xr6 but these are the results of an auto el gli:

0 - 100km/h 9.2 sec
0 - 400 mtrs 16.7 sec

I doubt the extra 7kw (even with 3.45 gears) the xr6 has is gonna be able to knock off over a second of the quarter mile and 2 seconds off its 0-100 to beat the BA v8.

before you winge about manual, these results are based on an auto just as an auto barra 220 is capable of low/mid 15 sec passes and 0-100 in low/mid 7 seconds.

hehehe :P slower than a f**k ea!

Blast from the past I know but a manual EL XR6 does 0-100 in 7.6 sec according to this:

This the whole thing why I am angry for because. We have test this and prove other wise in safe conditons.

Drags and a Dyno is comming up soon. I will be in Queensland when a T&T night is on at willowbank. !!!

I will be visiting DynoSteve at Redcliffe too. Im sure he knows what he is doing. Worlds fastest Clevo powered car. :P

I just cant see an EL XR6 being faster than an BA/BF 8 in either 3V or 4V configuration.

AS I HAVE SAID myself and voxace have proved this.
