Yesterday I went out to help my mum buy her new big screen TV and DVD recorder with HDD and set top box but I got distracted on the way and ended up buying a 5.0ltr EL Fairmont Ghia.

First V8 I have owned. It drives superb.
Its silver and has a full bodykit on it with the sharkfin wing.
Leather on the inside :D

Now my questions what can I do to make it more powerful?
I'm first off doing exhaust. I'll get Pacemakers extractors but I dont know which exhaust system I should get, single, twin, size of pipes? There is only a small gap in the rear bumper/skirt so a big oval tip is out of the question.

What other little things can I do that isnt normally done on I6s.

Cheers fellow brethren.
I'm so stoked I've got a Ford V8 finally. Un-f**k-believable.

Awesiome work, sounds good!
What kms n how much she cost?
As for zorst, id rather twin pipe only coz of the sound, mines stock twin pipe n its a very nice throaty sound.
Single pipe is still good tho, and much cheaper - if you wanna do it economically go single pipe for sure, cheaper by far.

Cheers - youve done as i, joined the 8's.

I always buy a new car when shopping for electrical goods.

edit: You don't buy stuff while standing in line at the supermarket by any chance?

Good stuff.. does that mean you have three falcons sitting in your driveway now? or did you trade in one of them?

I will have three falcons for a while until I decide which one to sell. The GLI or the XR6.

I'm not an impulsive buyer at all. I've looked for about 4 weeks for one. If they sold Falcons in the checkout lane at the supermarket I probably would of bought one though. :D

She cost $11890. If I was a day earlier I could of got it for $10500. But that was a one day special. Only two things needed attention and that was the cruise control buttons and the driers window.

I'll post pics as soon as I pick her up on Monday.

Put a tremec in... For a cheap, quick upgrade, put Iridium plugs or similar in, the old windsors benefit a lot from good plug choice.

Tremec manual gearbox? Thats a bit pricey for me at the moment. I got quoted $4000 for the job.

What about NGK plugs and leads?

Sounds nice, how many kms has she done?
I would have tried to take it for 10,500, they obviously could have afforded to sell it for that price

NGK, Bosch, Champion and so on all make high end and low end (factory spec) plugs. Get like 100 bucks together (I pay trade prices so i'm not sure what they are worth) and get some 'high-end' plugs.. not just new 'factory-spec' jobs... makes a difference. I have an extremely early EB1 V8, and i'm pretty sure the cumbustion chamber shape on these things is less than optimal. But a really good quality set of plugs last you longer, gives more go, and uses less fuel.. also (in my case) seems to overheat less. Leads can be $$$ i noticed a difference when i did mine, but they were the original 1991 leads. Like the NGK iridiums, bosch quad sparks or whatever they are and so on...

I'll get the NGK iridium plugs and NGK leads.

She is also going to get a strict diet of Ultimate 98.

They more than likely "could" afford it, altho you will most normally see business' have sales or drastic price drops only if:
1 - Local competition warrants such pricing.
2 - Excessive amounts of stock.
3 - Boost sales figures at any financial cost.
Not always true, but one of those is normally behind the reason, i like the idea of calling it "today's price" as prices fluctuate radicaly.
Off that s**t now anywho, he just got a 5L ghia!
Looking forward to seeing some pics, and who knows where to get ngk plugs/leads for good price in melb? :P
