Was at sueprcheap today reading about oild additives, i know a few people say steer clear from nulon additives (i dont know why?) but i was also looking at the lucas product. the suggest this eliminates all start up wear and demonstrate it with a model with regular oil and another with oil containing this product, the one with the product held the oil where as the other drained off. is this a marketing ploy or does it work well? they also suggest cooler engine oil temps and recommend a ratio of 20% system capacity which means one liter in our 5.0s

thoughts and experiences?

nothing can beat regular oil/filter changes. Most synthetic oils have all these additives anyway. Bit of a marketing spin. Remember heavier oils not always better.

well on my EL XR8 i use HPR10 (10w50) and purelator filters, with changes every 6-7,000

i have been using nulon performance anti-wear, is this as bad as people say?

Wouldn't waste my money IMO, but don't think it would be bad. Nulon oil is good. i use 10-40 full synthetic, and a K&N oil filter. change every 10K, and use Nulon oil flush before change. If you use injector cleaner its always a good idea to change oil more frequently.

I'd never add anything to my oils. They are very carefully engineered these days and any foreign additives can/will upset their chemical balance. Just change them regularly.

I have been using Nulon products for nigh on 20yrs...never had any probs. I even use it in my 1999 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird.....doesn't affect the clutch as some people have you believe.
It is the only additive I trust......100% Aussie too.
