this is more of a hypothetical than anything, but how can i make her go faster... budget 3k.

current setup is
trickflow twisted wedge alloys..
trickflow stage 2 cam
1.6 roller rockers
8x48mm throttle body setup
stock bottom end, aside from arp bolts, & mains girdle.
full msd ignition
megasquirt ecu
T5 & 3.45lsd.
24lb injectors
255lph fuel pump & adjustable reg
currently making in the order of 300rwhp

how much further can i push the block/trans/diff?
how would one go about pushing that bit further :)

what sort of power/torque would bolting a raptor v on the side leave me with?
(im aware of the manifold issue, but id find a way around it)

what sort of power/torque would going 347 achieve?

NO NITROUS

347 would be outside your 3k budget, unless you were to turn the spanners yourself. Then there will be machining etc. And i doubt a blower would come in under budget either.

I would look at 1.7roller rockers, and maybe a port and polish of the heads. Then maybe so shorter gears, but will make 1st in the T5 useless. You will be nearing the limits of the T5 as well.
NOS will get you to where you want to be.

yeah 3.7's will make 1st gear a pig, not even sure if it would help you go faster... but definitely is a lot of fun !!

ive considered the diff gears, but i think 3.9 would be a pain and i cant really justify the $$ to go from 3.45 to 3.7..

id be doing all the spanner work so labour is taken care of, and i can do 90% of the tune aswell.. so really parts are the only issue..

the raptor is $2500 + injectors, some pipework, and a new airbox setup which im confident could be had for $3k total,

the stroker, even if i went 342 (std bore) surely a rotating assembly couldnt be worth more than $3k?

You need torque by the sounds of it. The 342 would be the go and you could do a search on ebay or summit for the rotating assembly and just grind the block yourself for clearance. Pushing an EL V8 to 13.4 N/A is very good!!

off topic, but i love that individual air filter throttle body setup  - Are the tubes going to the spotty holes? what a great job with the custom box- or its more like a dish! Did you make it yourself or buy like that and is the bonnet insulation molded to fit?

what about cam side of things? Sounds like you need a lumpy as cam with that intake set up....

Maybe a crane 2030/2031 to begin with..? tried and tested combo

Need something customised to the setup. No one here will have much of an idea for this setup. But plenty in the states do.. Just sucks that rates are s**t. FTI do them for $300US or so. Just make sure you tell him exactly what you're doing.. Killer Canary runs 12s with similarly weighed car. That's with nittos though. Need a cam that matches the setup.

the extra torque would be great.. but im scared of splitting the block and destroying alot of brand new gear.. unfortunately to add a new block into the equation blows the budget to pieces.
13.4 was with the auto also.. i believe it will go faster witht the manual, i havent had an opportunity to do a proper pass yet.. :)

cheers, its totally custom, and more of a heat shield than anything else.. the pipes feed down under the centre of the front bar..
currently the car has no insulation on the bonnet, the front edge of the airbox actually touches the underside of the bonnet bracing.
ive been meaning to get a new insulator but havent gotten around to it so far..

IIRC the 2020 & the 2031 are a bit smaller than the TFS stage 2.. the intake setup does allow me to run a very lumpy cam and still maintain a good idle, so i could go a fair bit bigger (but at what cost to the bottom end)

ive considered the custom cam route and it would probably be the best way to go.. its not so much the expense, but the time the car would be off the road with the motor out... (i know it can be done in car but im not keen on getting the aircon regassed.. )

the whole car off the road issue is why i threw the raptor idea in there.. as i could put 95% of it together without disabling the car (which i need for work etc).. but again, it would be pushing the block and the gearbox to their limits :(

thanks for the input.. ill continue to ponder.. perhaps i should just gradually build a bulletproof shortblock and put it into something a lil less street driven

Are you going Manual?

If you arent, a set of 3.9's-4.11's and a smallish stall will see 12's.

I went 3.7's from 3.23's and I did wish i went shorter. 3.7's are a good gear too, i hit 5500 in 3rd crossing the line on 1/4.

I am/was in a similar boat running similar power with a blower, the next step with the heads and cam (which i have) is too big of a step for me as the cost of a new bottom end/block if it all went pear shaped.

going a blower on your setup would require alot of fabrication, or returning to the explorer or similar inlet. Making a Plenum to suit the throttle bodies would be great, but hiding the throttle bodies is criminal.

Tough decisions. :?

So you've basically got two options?

- Larger grind/custom camshaft
- Small blower set-up

- or NOS ( but it seems your quite against it? )

Just a suggestion..
You could purchase a cheap 4cyl to get to work while the 8 is off the road? if you went with the cam choice..

And with the blower choice, as "Schnoods" said, Hiding those throttle bodies is criminal..

How much piston - valve clearance do you have with the stage 2 trick flow cam? Going with something bigger may pose a problem. Even 1.72rrs could be getting pretty close.

I've got 3.7s and manual and I reckon they are a great ratio. I stepped up from 3.23 though, so quiite a difference was noticable. They got me a 1.9 60 footer as well.

I was quoted 5600 for a dart 302 block and eagle 347 stroker kit, which is good dollars if you ask me. Then there is maching and assembly on top of that.
I still think a small NOS kit would do it wonders

By looking at the pic you seem to be able to fabricate stuff.
I I were you I would get on ebay and find myself a eaton 112 or 122.
