alright im thinking of doing a manual conversion on the eb,

its an orig 5.0 V8
just wondering if a manual conv. sourced from a 6 would be suitable,
or does it have to be from an 8?
would performance be any different between the two?
any advice would be welcome,
cheers for your help

2nd gear on the BTR sux.

My wagon has a EA T5 behind it. Done well for the last 4 years. I've explained everything I can remember from my conversion here:

banarcus with the input shaft mod u did is that just a sleeve that u can buy to slip straight over the shorter 6cyl one or did u have to take the box to someone and have them machine/weld whatever to do it? thinking of putting one in my car due to lack of affordible 8cyl boxes.

For what it's worth try to source a v8 box the mods to the 6 box may make it more expensive at the end of the day.

The sleeve in question, is standard alloy for the 6cyl box and is to short once you lengthen the shaft. The mob that did the mods to the shaft actually had the longer V8 sleeve there and it is made from steel. The steel tube is pressed into the alloy flange as the flange is exactly the same as the 6cyl version.

I believe that you could grab the 6cyl sleeve, machine the weaker alloy tube off it and then grab similar sized pipe for an interference fit to that flange. I forgot what the sleeve cost me, I think it was $60 or something.
