Well for all those that didn't know, i have been doing an engine conversion during this stupid heatwave.

What idiot pulls out a 6cylinder and drops a windsor V8 into an EA Falcon during 35+degree weather in a verandah. lol.

Well its been interesting.

Had to move the transmission forward and inch and a half from where it sat with the 3.9. and put on the V8 Bell housing

Modified the V8 engine mounts via welding plates and welding the bracket to suit factory K-Frame.

Replaced all of the wiring loom and installed the V8.

Well she is nearly ready to go after just under 2 weeks of afternoon work at night. Roughly 36hrs of work from start to finish. now i am worn out lol.

Well here are the pics. anyone need more info tell me and i will post up

Just have the bolt ons left, exhaust, wiring and radiator.

Then it should be all systems go.

Basically only real issue that i found was the Engine mounts and the transmission needing to be shifted forward to make it all bolt up nicely.

Wiring was straight forward but made easier by having both 6 and 8 looms to work with.

Really only drama when attempting to do this is trying to get a V8 powersteering setup. The lines are near impossible to source. i think i got the last one from a wreckers in SA.

Oh and because of the transmission being moved forward the shift linkage didn't line up, so had to manufacture an adapter plate.

everything else slotted together easily so that was alright. any questions just ask away. have learned alot over the last 2 weeks.

After i get it all running with the stock computer though, comes teh fun part. I intend to wire up the EMS Stinger to run the whole combo, It has a turbo 6 tune atm, but with a quick ecu tune change should be able to get it to run the 8. Which will give me back my real time tuning ability and real time ecu readouts on the laptop with data logging.

Also question For all the V8 boys.

What do people swear on with X-Pipes, H-Pipes etc.

Basically going to do a dual 2.5" exhaust stopping at the diff with dumpers. Wondering if there is a real difference between the H-Pipe and the X-Pipe power wise.

Hoping i can use the 2.5" straighthrough system from my 6 for the right bank and make up an identical one for the left bank.

If the X-Pipe is better that may make it harder but i should be able to weld it up.

what are you all running.

they are a balance pipe, not necessary, but there for making consistant note and better torque i think

It will drone like a b**ch without the two pipes meeting somehow, somewhere.

The V8 came from here on the forums think it was an EB.

The BTR is my original with upgraded internals. which i had done for the turbo 6 i was building.

Slowly getting there, hopefully have it running by next weekend.

Good job, especially at home in this frickin' heat!

Did you get rego approval? SA seems to be tough for that sort of thing.

In SA its pretty simple to rego,
go to transport SA tick a few boxes
say its a v8, give the new engine number and then done, may need to get the Fuzz to confirm the number but nothing major,
form my experience
