Re-check your timing. It could be out. That can cause overheating, and running without a thermostat is not good, despite what some people say.

flush out the system, could be blocked somewhere causing poor circulation

its over heating because u dont have the thermoste in it. the thermosate does help cool down the engine as it is a restricks the flow of coolant into the engine. as u dont have it in there the coolant will flow through too fast and wont be able to cool the engine down as it cant extract the heat from the engine.

What type of electric fans? Cheap nasties from auto barn or supercheap or a set of a late model Falcon?

If you have late model Falcon ones? Make sure you have wired them correctly. I've got a set in my car. My mate had them in his and it couldn't cool the car. The idiot who put them in hadn't fired them correctly so they souldn't run @ full speed!

On my late model Falcon fans they have 5 wires.
1 = low speed
2 = medium speed
3 = both 1+2 powered @ once = high speed
2 * earth wires

Make sure you use 40amp relay connected directly to the battery.
