Just notice this tonight... what could have caused this? Can I safely assume that my radiator cap isn't relieving pressure at the right time and has allowed this to happen. Given that no hoses etc blew off maybe the egg crate is just buggered?

Coincidently, I have just had (last friday) an oil cooler installed. Is supposed to be the std one fitted to AU's however looks like the mother of all coolers ('bout 40cm long x 30cm deep).

Obviously I'll be buying another one from Ford on Tuesday (shudder to think how much they sell these for) but want to ensure the same thing doesn't happen to the new one.

Last time I checked (about 2 years ago) the ones for AU came with the sensor... like it or not. Were about $160 then, hence my anxiety!

I had the EXACT same thing on my EL about a year or so ago. I went tomy local Ford Spares In Parramatta NSW where I was living at the time and the Dude there said to replace it quick smart as she might burst all over the place and f**k your car and engine up while your driving. Cause its like you have 120psi Bomb now sitting in the Engine bay etc. I ended up buying the New part for $76 there and then and replacing it myself 20mins later. No problems ever since. I think the plastic just weakens etc over time. Also only fill the Coolant to Halfway and Not to Maximum as that also creats to much pressure in the Coolant system

Mate i don't kow how that thing hasn't exploded yet.. You can even see where the plastic has weakended and deformed (white lines). I supose I should use this as an excuse to change mine as its gone a little misty...
