Alright my first thread!! here i go,
EL XR8 96..pdw fusion wheels..manual....with.....
AU upper and lower intake manifold ,K&N filter, SS induction kit ,10mm spark leads ,Cam(not sure on specs) ,pacemaker extractors with Hi-flow cats into a single exit(sounds very nice), i used the au blue colored injectors with the adapter plugs and always feed her BP ultimate.
Now I'm being told different things and the threads I'm finding are making my head spin..I just really want to know what the best size T/B would be for the car? and the MAF!! this bit im loosing my hair over, someone please tell me what the best size would be? I can get a 70-75mm one for $200 off an AU and i would put my wires in it.....but someone is telling me this is overkill? what i would really like to do is get the MAF then add the wires from mine and get her tuned. Its only been two weeks with the explorer manifold and i was told the it takes a bit for the cars computer to learn how to use the new setup....
she's a brilliant car and i want a bit more go, but i dont want to stuff anything up. I Know theres heaps i could do to get the car gunning...like...aftermarket heads, stroker kit, super charger. But just want to know about the Maf and throttle body on this one
If any one can help, i would be very grateful
cheers :D

MAF & TB size depends a lot on your current & planned mods, before you know the " best size " to choose to run is.

Cheers

Well if you have the Explorer manifold then a 65mm TB is fine and a 70mm MAF should do.
If your current MAF is off the AU XR8 as well then that will match the TB just fine.

I don't know much about the 5L and the whole MassAirFlow Sensor cuz i got the newer V8 but if its a pushrod V8 the heads should be relatively simple to take off so you can always take the existing heads off and get a port polish on them at your local engine performance shop. Brother got both heads done for $500, and that gives you way more pull than a new TB. We did it in the garage with a torque wrench and a socket set.

Wow! thank you everyone for the response!!
Im living in Melbourne and I took the car to a place in Ringwood to have the manifold done.
I will probably get the heads done soon as i can find someone to do it, thats if the best plan of attack is to keep the old ones and port them out, can anyone drop a few names?
But im thinking that there would have to be aftermarket heads that would do a better job.....but more expensive in the process...gt40p heads, would that be another alternative? ( I would prefer to have these done if it was for the better).someone told me they are no big deal though....anyway its all a bit off path at the moment
I think for now I might get an AU maf and T/B(65mm) to suit the manifold and then get the tune done. And just enjoy the car for what she is for now...which i doubt will be for long  ..which reminds me I will post some photos soon!
Then im cruising to Canberra which is much easier in a V8 and heaps more fun :D
cheers!!

The first thing you should do is switch back to the stock 19lb injectors. With 24's and no recalibration for these you'll be overfueling it and actually reducing performance. The 70mm AU MAF body with the stock EL hotwire actually works very well with stock 19's.

Yeah im running a 70mm on mine and its made an improvement.

Make sure you bump up your timing too, to around 34-35 degrees.
