im concidering on takin my car in somewhere to get the motor looked at. not sure where to go tho. im in the ipswich area if anyone knows of a decent place that wont rip me offor make the problem worse. also what can i do before i take it in. such as replaceing sensors and such. the thing on the side of the throtle body seems to have a ust hole in it. i have also discovered its slightly difficult to set the timing using a tim ing light as i cant see the markings properly.

i have recently changed spark plugs, got new leads, repaired the starter motor, got a new replacement header tank but water level sensor is not conected, replaced injectors but had little effect, fitted a fuel pressure regulator, new fuel filter

Is that thing the egr valve you are talking about when you said a rust hole? because with out it in there it will let ehaust gas in all the time and muck
with the way the car runs.

Do you have photos?

i think its the idle control sensor. im not to sure if its affecting anythin tho. im assuming it rusted thru because the water lines above it were leakin onto it but there seems to be a plastic cap on the inside.

Photos mate, make sure there are no vacuum leaks.

Make sure all of the intake tube after maf is all sealed.

Clean maf hotwires and if isc is stuffed just replace it.

Check the sticky at the top of the v8 section it will tell you how to set timing.
