Just picked up my new BF v8 !

How do you get it to rev over 5000rpm in sports mode?

Engine cuts out at 5000......................

Cheers,

Maybe thats the limit. They don't have redline on the tacho do they? A tune will get rid of it.

Don't quote me on this as I don't know much about the BA BFs. Best to get a second opinion.

The limiters set at 5800 or 6k I think, not 5000

I wouldn't go to Ford to get it tuned... You'll probably want to find a workshop who use the flash tuner. In saying that, a stock bf probably has it's rev limit set for a reason. Like Timmeh, I'm no scholar on the topic of the modulars (or anything else for that matter).

AGREED unless the issues covered by warranty Ford will just take excess cash from you and don't you have to keep a brand new V8 under a certain rev range for xxxx amount of km's?

Didnt think ford did aftermarket tuning themselves anyways.

Go get a flash tune for it you will be happier for it.

The BF 6's at least have a reflash counter that allows the dealer to see if a car has been flashed then returned to stock in between services. Keep it stock until the factory warranty runs out then shop around the CAPA Flash dealers for the best deal on a flash tuner with generic tunes for your engine. Most will post Oz-wide. One Melbourne outlet has just released an economy tune for the B-series V8's and will sell a package with performance and economy tunes. A flash box holds 3 tunes.

OTOH the 3v 5.4 is known to respond very well to simple intake and exhaust mods in conjunction with a custom dyno tune. Someone like RDP would be able to give you an idea of how much improvement to expect.

The 3v is something of a sleeper. I believe it has VCT and I'm not sure that the Boss motors do. You get better low-end torque than the Boss out of the box. Make it breathe better and you get good top-end too.

mate go to chiptorque on the gold coast. they have just released the ezyflash unit. its just like the capa flash unit but it holds way more tunes and its a slicker unit to use. my one cost 995 with 5 tunes all custom done but thats with a gtrydaz.com discount lol as it usually costs about 1500 with 5 tunes

http://www.chiptorque.com.au/

ive heard a lot of people bagging out chiptorque on here but the gold coast workshop is the head office and the tuners are top shelf

if u want their details pm me or have a look on the website
