2 pics attached.

1. Whats the purpose of that extra piece hanging off half way up the air intake piping?

2. In the second pic, is that a pissy little trans cooler? It has 2 hoses, both on the left hand side, both go through under the headlight - top one looks like it goes to top of radiator, bottom one disappears underneath radiator and connects to a solid pipe. Asked an ebay seller about adding one and mentioned this (didn't say where the hoses go though) and he said its a aircon condensor.....

If it is, where do I fit a trans cooler, and if it is a factory trans cooler, is it possible to fit a larger one instead (it seems a bit small), obviously using the same hoses hopefully - but not much room with the rest of the aircon there beside it. Also, if its a trans cooler, wheres the aircon condensor then...

Might be dumb questions but there ya go!

Thanks mate.

Great that its a trans cooler. I thought it might be as it does have a ford tow pack on it (although I need a tongue) and where those hoses go looked to me to be the case.

The trans seems ok although twice when coming to a stop in my driveway it seems to have made all sorts of vibrations/noises etc. Think I need to get it serviced.

yes, sounds like a service is in order, one on the auto trans should be done about every 50,000k's..

the a/c condensor is the 'radiator looking' bit directly behind the trans cooler.

Oh thanks, I didn't even look behind it.

One more thing I've noticed, in the engine bay pic, just beside the power steering pump theres a bracket with some surface rust, and it looks like it has a threaded hole in it that something should or was (or can be) bolted on.....I know its not a great pic but those with the same engine should be able to tell where I mean.

The rusted bracket is for the BBQ plate. You don't have one so I wouldn't worry too much.
