Why is it hard to believe him about chripping in 2nd and 3rd???????
My work van does that in the dry. Its more down to s**t rubber and suspension then out right power.

My mate has a EL Fairmont 5.0L and he has Y-single 2.5" single muffler thats it and it sounds so sexual, its got a really nice bark and crackle

its an auto. the gearing is not conducive to hard launching. the stock diff ratio is also 3.23. the 2nd to 3rd change would be over 100kph which would make it extremely difficult to create a greater rolling speed in the wheel than what the car is actually travelling esp. given the soft nature of the std shifts.

its a stainless steel herrod exhaust...its got one big muffler in the middle of the car and its got a herrod muffler (which is smaller) in the rear guard after the diff...

its funny because the stock exhuast that i modified was louder because it had a hotdog and a small muffler on it...im think about taking it out and selling it because i might as well modify my old one so i dont wreck this one and keep it the herrod way....

if any one wants it...make me an offer!!!

Yea if its auto i dont believe it would chirp from 2nd to 3rd and i would even find it hard to believe it would chirp 1st to 2nd. I know it can be done im not saying it does but im just saying it would be hard to believe.
I would believe a manual though

Yea just go get the rear one removed for straight pipe work should be louder and if its still not losuder then get the center one changed for a smaller one

Its easy to get the note louder, but to get it sounding nice (non f@rt, drony) and loud is much harder to do.

Reso's dont even bother with them, there for quieting down the system while keeping performance. if your after loud, then a straight through pipe all the way through with a middle muffler will do that. But, unless ur car is worked.....a stocker is going to drone and sound ok from the cabin, but ugly and rough from the outside.....like a truck. I would go a small middle muffler (get sound up) and a hotdog. You can always experiment with different middle mufflers until your happy as much of the sound and tone is usually controlled by that part of the exhuast. A hotdog cleans up the note and gets rid of any roughness, it makes the sound deeper but also quiets the sound down at first (not as much as a reso though). After say 1000km of driving the note pics up quite alot and itsettles in. Then walla, you should have a nice note all the way round from idle, to slow driving and especially when your gunning it. Its hard to get this on a stock windsor....many sound drony with little to no base in there tone.

The only way you will get that real v8 sound is with twin 2.5 inch exhaust all the way to the back. I have an EB XR8 & EB 50.LT wagon. They both run twin 2.5 inch with lukey ofset mufflers and no resinator. Sound like a 70's v8. No drone just sweet rumble.
