I thought they were a cam that were good for the 351's more than the 302's. Would love to see the dyno graph on this one. :)

The 2020 has a decent amount of lift (530th on both intake and exhaust) but only 208/216 duration @50th. Great for low end and midrange power/torque but probably would run out of puff before 5k (still make decent peak power I would think though). I wouldn't be using it in a stroker (they normally run mid 220-230 duration specs) but it should be a very nice 5L street cam, with great drivability and bucket loads of torque (exactly what you want :D).

Precisely!! I wanted a cam that would add to my driving experience, not turn my daily driver into an unmanageable monster. Apparently the idle on my car is much lumpier than "gunit18's" car (an EL 5.0)... Same cam, same heads, different manifold (explorer vs edebrock i think), but mick thinks it may be due to the LPG system which will restrict air flow to some degree...

John your asking a great question!!

Matt, good to hear that its made the improvements.

I just put on explorer manifold, 75mm MAF, 65mm TB, 24lb injectors and I *think* I can notice a bit of difference. However, some T series ported GT40P heads, roller rockers and the TFS1 cam are being sent to me and after having a couple of small issues with changeover I wouldn't mind knowing what dollars are on his work.

Looking forward to seeing it at AFD!!! Catch ya there

what? new intake manifold and you *think* you can notice a bit of a difference?

i hope you're being sarcastic, that should bring a good improvement alone.. especially the manifold.

Well an air leak has been rectified so it definately goes harder now. The biggest restriction now is the heads so they will be replaced as soon as they arrive in the mail along with the trickflow cam.

Labour was about $800 for heads, cam and manifold. That figure may have been adjusted a little, as there were several unforseen problems (6 bent valves and a shot timing cover) that escalated the costs a "bit" **wince**. Certainly wasn't as cheap as Dave's deal who bought a few boys a coke for $1 and got his manifold pulled apart and the gasket replaced!!

Pulls like a train now however, so much so that I have to put effort into braking at idle because it's making so much more grunt even at 800-900 rpm!!

It's improving every time that I drive it now as the ECU continues to learn... Idle is still deliciously lumpy however, and sounds great with a full boot of throttle!! Once everything has settled down a bit and I've got my LPG tune sorted I'll get it dynoed. I had it done just before all these mods were done, so it'll hopefull give a really good before and after comparo.

Will be a good comparo... although you have a different manifold and mine's on LPG...

Is yours improving? Mine was a right bastard to start initially, but is now fine. The cold start idle is still fluctuating but smoothes out as soon as I start driving. When I first got it back it would ping ferociusly, again this is slowly improving, although this may be a result of the petrol vs LPG tune as well. How far have you driven yours? It can take a couple of full tanks of fuel before the ECU really catches up, especially with such major changes...
