Hey fellow Fordmodders...

I've got a 1998 EL series 2 Fairmont Ghia V8 and am after some power figures. Im also down the debt scene abit at the moment, and am not very mechanically minded with these Windsors. But i guess this is where i start, regarding the whole "do it yourself" routine.. :D

So far, the car came with an SS induction snorkel, K&N Filter, and a cheap crap 2.5" exhaust which im pretty sure is rooted!

Ideas people??

Cheers! :)

regarding cheap DIY mods there are;

electronic shift kit for auto , cut 2nd hole in front of air box for CAI, adjusting voltage (under sticky), EF/EL Thermo fans, gutting the cats (very illegal), replace rubber intake with 60 degree of 3" pipe from exhaust shop are just a few ideas which can all be done for under a couple of hundred if you do most work yourself.

hard to get much of a gain cheaply out of these pre EL XR8 2 engines as the standard extractors and everything from the cylinder heads up are so restrictive.

Plenty of info on this forum as well as ford forums australia, its worth having a browse.

cheers

As with my I6 FG, the stock exhaust system is the first sticking point.

What do you want to achieve with the car?
Sound?
Acceleration increases 0-100?
Quater times?

Ebay will probably have the cheapest exhausts.
Redback is one of the cheaper exhausts whilst still being decent qaulity.

Installing higher ratio diff gears ($200 on ebay + labour) would yeild the best bang for buck mod in terms of 0-100.

Unless your exhaust is actually f**k I wouldn't bother; as long as its mandrel bent I would just buy a quality muffler and get it fitted instead of what is on there.
Search ebay for second hand manifolds as you should be able to get those for not too much.

Diff gears are a good option, but not so easy to fit yourself and you will probs be looking at around $500 for supply and fit by a shop.

Then you have underdrives, stronger ignition system, tune and different ratio rockers. That would be it for the cheap mods I think.

Seriously do people google "f**k up modifications for Fords owned by Jews" and get linked straight to this site nowadays?

A j3 chip will do it well once ya have a few mods on it.
can be had for 600 supplied/fitted and tuned.
or tune it your self.
