Thanks NFghia.

Good move!
Now I won't have to look as far when ever I feel the need to arouse myself by looking at a horn set of brakes

This is most definately on my 'watched with excitement' list!

Supercharged V8 Fairlane; is there naything more evil.

I cannot wait till we see this thing at a meet.

Im sure its giving many ideas to ppls.. .lol!

Top notch work tho, the brakes are good to see as the std ones are poxy items yes and with a sc'lane you will need to stop hard and fast.

So I sorted out a few more bits this week, but for the HP junkies it's the boring stuff: Ignition and the control of it.

For me playing with the electronics in the car is just as much fun as re-building the engine
Because the dizzy is getting the chop I still need a system that will supply a PIP to the EEC-V to run the dash, trans, etc.
So I got an EDIS8 setup. It operates almost identically to the TFI module with a PIP being sent from the unit to the ECU and the ECU sending a SAW signal back to the module to determine the spark advance.
Here's the bit's for under bonnet, reluctor ring and pickup, EDIS8 module and a pair of coil packs.

Image

The only problem I can see is that the TFI module sends a Signature PIP to the EEC so it knows where No1 cyl is for the Sequential injection but the EDIS8 just has a straight squarewave signal :?:
Another one of those "let's plug it in and see what happens" problems.

Most of my under-bonnet experience has been with carby based cars which are bog simple to mod, but for EFI you need a degree in electronics.
While I don't have a degree, I am an electronics tech Sooooooo
I've been playing around with a Megasquirt I for the last few months and have had it running the car on fuel only no probs but it didn't like doing the ign. But the ign side of things for MSI are somewhat experimental so I'm not to fussed about that not working.
It has been a fantastic learning experience about the finer details of EFI, and now that MSII's are available I got myself one of those to run the show.

After having the laptop plugged into MS and being able to read and datalog everthing going on in the engine, with the new donk I want to be able to keep a check on as many things as possible but carrying around the lappy is impractical, so I got the Megaview unit as well.
It doesn't allow much ability to program on the fly but what it does is scroll a s**t load of parameters continuosly and if any go out of spec they flash at you.
Here's a little vid I took of it scrolling.
http://home.iprimus.com.au/loward/datadisplay.wmv

Have to squeeze that into the dash somewhere
Plus I want to have vac/boost, oil press and AFR as 3 seperate guages.

With the shweet motor I'm putting together its a bit pointless having it in the car as it is at the moment (cosmetically).
The paint on the car wasn't the greatest when I bought it 6yrs ago and with me not giving much of a s**t about it since then, it hasn't gotten any better
So with the respray I'm gonna give her, I intend to fix another of the little things that irk me on the car, the headlights!! (lack of power  and lack of brakes  being the main ones)

So while i was down at FTG auto salvage getting a 3.45 LSD I also got a BA XR front bumper. So some more mods there to fit XR headlights and bumper and of course bulge. :?
I've always loved the look of the BA XR front's so lets see what it looks like on the front of the fairlane..

I did have thoughts of starting a project car (Landau coupe or cobra replica) but thats not gonna happen now.
Next though is fit up the LSD before Heathcote so I can have a bit of fun, and see if there are any weak bits..

I wish I had those brakes, I need them... ha ha.
Where and how much were they? I didn't see where you had said.

I got heaps of pix of my build, if you want to see.

I guess I've been a bit tardy in keep up on this posting..

The main reason is that I've been demolishing my old garage for a nice new double one. :D

Here's the bits:
Image

Doesn't look like much in a pile, but it's 7m wide by 7.5m deep.
So heaps of nice undercover work area, away from Melbs "WONDERFUL" weather..
Here's hoping there's a couple of days over easter thats at least half decent..

But the accumulation of goodies goes on.

I just have to add, 'I LOVE EBAY' There's quite a bit of crap on it but if you know what your after then it's a gr8 little treasure trove..

Here's a few items, some I stumbled upon, others I was hunting for !!

Image

The main items there are:
The white thing on the right is a BA bonnet bulge in fibreglass. (Just the bulge)
The BA XR headlight speaks for itself. (Did I mention that I was fitting a BA XR front end on the lane as well. 8-) )
Under the headlight in the Melling box, a High-Vol oil pump and the cleavite box is just a new set of welshies..
Some underdrive pulleys are tucked under there as well.

The nice blue shiny bit is: You got it! A CVR electric water pump (brand spanking new)
I was looking at using the turbo timer on my alarm for any possible heat-soak issues, but that should do an even better job. :D

The brakes are Cebco http://www.cebcobrakes.com.au they cost a wallet thining $4k, but IMO worth every cent. :D :D
And for sure post some pics, either here or in a new thread. Always good to see different setups, etc.
